• The RTWH Committee after a great deal of
consideration has decided to cut the Reining Pattern from the Club program. Members will be able to warm their
horses up in the arena (time not exceeding 1 minute) prior to their Working Cow Horse pattern. As a result of
this event being cut, members will have the opportunity to have two Barrel Race runs and several Team Penning
runs. We are exploring a new event in place of the Reining Pattern – so watch this space.
CAMPDRAFTING: IN THE CAMP
The Club
The Rosewood Trail & Working Horse Club is based at the Roly Gardner Arena which is
situated in the Rosewood Showgrounds 20 minutes west of Ipswich in Queensland.
The club focus is on developing the horse and rider skills for cutting,
team penning, camp drafting and working horse.
The club has a family focus with youngsters right through to their
grandparents getting involved in the fun.
Many of the club members use the club days to hone their horse and rider
skills for local and regional competitions, introduce and train up their horses or just for a bit of
fun.
The points days which are held twice a year give all the members a chance
to dress up both themselves and their horses and compete against their fellow club members with a presentation
class and judging for the events that are conducted on the club days.
There are regular team penning competitions attracting riders from all
across S.E. Qld who come to compete for the fastest time and the 1st prize. Team Penning is becoming a very
popular activity for both riders and spectators.
Barrel Racing is now on the calendar which is very popular amongst the
girls and since running their first event in February this year it will develop into a popular event and with a
bit of help from sponsors the prize money should improve to make the event a regular on the barrel
circuit.
Cutting is becoming a sort after activity as well, not only to develop
your skills for team penning and campdrafting but as a stand alone sport with cutting groups popping up all over
the country.
If you are looking for something a bit different to do on your horse and
have a fun day out come along, take a day membership and see if our club is your cup of tea. You never know, you
just might end up starting a long term affair with these horse and cow events.
